Differences can be made on your car by changing the exhaust system. The normal exhaust fitted by the car producer are usually a compromise between performance and production costs. The following step is to look at the silencers on the car. Most standard car silencers have u turns within the baffles, which means the gasses have to double back to aid silencing. Fitting a straight through system instead with maybe a slightly larger bore can assist eliminate some of these restrictions.

Losing all of the back pressure can result in a loss of performance, so make sure you do not go too large on the bore if you are looking to buy one as a present for him.
