The Deadening Chore Of Cleaning The Car
Where Do You Live?
If your as frugal as I am, you’d prefer to wash your own vehicle rather than hand over some petty change to some spotty teenager to do it. As they say: “Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves”, however my prudence towards cash is countered by my lack of ‘go’, my sheer laziness l. It’s certainly a quandary, debating whether to wash your car, putting it off, stewing on it until Sunday night and you’ve realised that the whole weekend has been one big write off because you weren’t clinical enough to get the job done. So last weekend, I bought a bunch of car cleaning stuff (car polish etc), pulled my sleeves up and got down to business.
Initially the process is rewarding, however, the novelty of it quickly wears thin. After a few minutes you wish that spotty teenager was around to do it for you. It’s not so much the effort which I despise, but how mundane it can be; taking out the car mats, brushing them down, putting them back, realising that you forgot to Hoover, taking out the car mats, dropping them, picking them up, putting them back, see I told you it was incredibly boring! There are a few elements of interest. You see, I always wanted to be an archaeologist, but instead I did a degree in Marketing. So when you discover a pen or an ice scraper it can feel a lot like discovering treasure. Unbelievably I found my old sat nav behind the back seats.
The chore became so implausibly mind numbIng that I gave up after 15 minutes. I will now have to bear the dreaded thought of having another go for the rest of the week.
